Not sure, but this may be a two part post. It is now 9:17 pm and I am tired, plus lights out is probably only 20 minutes away. Yes, there´s a lights out policy in most albergues. As well, there is usually a doors locked and doors open time to follow.
I am in Sahagun. As planned (finally) I have only walked as far as I planned on doing. Had a short (distance wise) walk of about 13 km. Of course this was across the Meseta, long flat and very hot. Actually today was a cool day, a forecasted high of just 28 degrees.
Went through only two villages, Moratino and San Nicolas del Real Camino. The first was nice and very small. Stopped in the church for a cello (stamp) in my credencial. Beautiful little church.... no golden decorations as a priest during the twenties stole it all (apparantly)! The lady providing the stamp was from Pittsburgh! She now lives here and works on line as an editor.
San Nicolas was a pleasant stop for cafe con leche and zumo naranja. A place to take off the boots and massage the tired feet. You have NO IDEA how great a treat that is!
Sahagun is a larger town. The albergue is nice for sleeping and a shower, but no additional facilities. Ran into an Australian couple I have touched base with before. Andy and Anita are wonderful persons, pleasant to walk with and a pleasure to chat with. Besides, Andy loves Guiness! Had dinner at their albergue. Think I stopped at the wrong one. Well, that´s the luck of the draw on the Camino.
Tomorrow, hopefully to El Burgo Ranero.... town of the frogs (ranas). We´re all trying to arrange for a group to arrive about the same time and have dinner together. Fingers crossed, it should be fun.
Now, upstairs to bed.... a little music on the Ipod and a lot of wonderful thoughts about my darling wife (who has promised to never let me do this again).
Not sure if I have access to the internet over the next two to three days. Hopefully I do, but if not then a short update in a few days.
